1) Means of luxuries does not give peace

Many times people link luxury and comfort with the expensive house, expensive clothes and expensive food while the comfort of life is linked to the Qalb (heart) and the tranquility of Qalb does not depend on the means of luxury but it depends on the wealth of the deen. It is not necessary when one has all these means will have peace for peace is different for it can be achieved only with deen but not with the quest of this dunya (world). A man may have all means of comforts of life but he may not have peace for he doesn’t have deen.

If we see a person who doesn’t get sleep, we know for sure he doesn’t have peace and we don’t doubt that. Allah ?     says about those who are heedless of His remembrance,

 ?????? ???????? ??? ???????     ??????? ???? ????????? ??????

“But whosoever turns away from My Reminder verily, for him is a life of hardship.” Al-Quran, 20:124. These words are like engraved in stone and we should have a firm belief like how we would believe that the day comes when the sun rises and even a much stronger belief than that when a man has all means of comfort and luxury and if he doesn’t have deen, he will never be peaceful. Let Allah ?     make this enter our hearts. We can’t find a single person on the face of the earth who will have peace without deen. He might have all means of luxury and we do accept that but it is impossible to have peace without deen. When Allah ?     from whose treasure we get peace is saying that we won’t achieve peace through these means, then from where we will get the peace? So the means of comfort is different, the means of luxury is different and the peace is different.

Peace lies in acting on the Shariah

 The root of peace lies in acting on the shariah (Islamic rulings) and saving oneself from sins. This is the means of saving from fasad (corruption). The base of aman (peace) is the righteous life and saving oneself from sins. Mufti Shafi (rahimahullah) says that “I swear by Allah ?     that the one who is living by shariah is a King.” He is a king by the heart for he is given the peace and richness in the heart, very content and peaceful. He might not have the kingdom outwardly but he is the king by the heart. The one who is far from shariat is like one trapped in the cage. Outwardly he might have luxuries but within him he will be always worried and restless like what will happen if I do this and what will happen if I do that, what will happen tomorrow and so on and on. This is the life of an azab (punishment) that they taste right in this world. We don’t know how many worries he has in his heart that his turning on the bed doesn’t give him any peace when he looks like a king from outside but he will be worried all the time thinking that something or someone might harm him like this or that. Let Allah ?     save us from having such a kingdom and let Allah ?     make us kings by the heart.

The great reward we achieve right in this world

Always keep this in the mind that you should please Allah ?    . The key for peace is the talluq (contact) with Allah ?     and keeping away from ghairullah and reducing contact with those other than Allah ?    . Then know that the peace of both the worlds is for you. Even if one is afflicted, with poverty with peace and comfort of heart, he will be a king without any means outside. From a hadith of Rasoolullah ?    , we see that when a person leaves the sinful life and embraces a life of those of righteous, then Allah ?     grants him three things right in this world:

1. Allah ?     puts respect for him in the hearts of the people without any wealth or profession.
2. Without any wealth and property, Allah ?     makes him rich by heart.
3. Without being beloved of anyone, Allah ?     grants him peace and tranquility in the heart.

What else we want in this world when we get the honor, richness and peace in this world. This is said by the truthful tongue of the Prophet ?    . The honor coming from the hearts of the people has sweetness in it and it is not like that comes from other worldly means. When he gets the richness in the heart, he won’t feel the poverty without much wealth but he will feel all content. Don’t think that leaving the sins of life and taking the path of righteousness will end the pleasure of this world for we will get such an enjoyment, happiness and peace in the heart that the people of the dunya wouldn’t even have felt the breeze of that. You will see the righteous eating dried bread but he will have peace and content in the heart and the other one you will see, delicious meal spread before him but he will be restless inside. Who do you think is good, the one who is enjoying the dried bread or the other who is restless having the delicious food?

It is not that Allah ?  will give us the reward of righteous deeds only in the hereafter but as He ? has reserved more rewards for righteousness, one will taste a part of the reward right in this world in the form of peace and content; and in the form of glory and honor. It is not necessary that one’s wealth and clothes gets increased with righteousness but definitely peace, content and honor in the sight of people will increase. The development of science and technology can make one fly in the sky, land on the moon, reach the depths of the sea, preserve the light of the sun, hold the wind but he cannot achieve peace, comfort, tranquility in his heart or peace and security in his family by these but only by following the teaching of our beloved Prophet ?. A century before, people didn’t even imagine that science and technology can develop to this level and at the same time, none imagined if peace and tranquility will go away to this level and that man can be restless and disturbed like this.

The state of muslims today

There is only one way to achieve peace and that is the way of the Prophet ? . If we believe in Allah ? and the reckoning of our deeds in the hereafter, then our lives will be filled with peace. The poor muslim acts on islam only to some level and he doesn’t want to advance further as it is in his mind that if he enters islam completely and leave everything how he will live in this world? So many times it has been said in the Quran and by the Prophet ? that unless one pleases Allah ?, this world cannot be jannah but we have the thinking if we don’t please shaitan how we will progress in business, married life without doing any purdah. The muslim’s thought has become that life will progress only when he commits sins. Today the muslim is not a muslim by thought and action and sometimes it makes one fear if he has become an apostate by mind. How? A muslim not just abandons purdah but he says that the purdah is a hurdle in the path of progress and so he is rejecting the purdah. He is not only committing the sins but he is thinking without sins, he can’t live in this world and this is a very dangerous thought. Let Allah ? make us engrave this in our heart that the success of our both the worlds lie only in deen. Then living our life completely on deen will become easy and working hard and sacrificing in the path of Allah ? will be easy. Normally man works hard and sacrifices for something only when he sees hope. When a man is to do operation, he gathers the money in lakhs by working hard even though his salary is just six thousand and why? Because he knows his job will be done with the operation. If a Muslim knows that through deen he will be successful, then will he work hard or not?

He doesn’t work hard and do sacrifice for deen because he doesn’t think deep within him that success comes through deen and that is why he is not ready to strive or sacrifice or to work hard in the path of deen. So lead the life on shariah and Allah ? will make everyone respect you inshaaAllah. If you keep respect for the commands of Allah ? in your heart, then Allah ? will keep respect for you in people’s heart. If you think that without respecting the commands of Allah ?, you can get the respect of the people, by Allah ?, this will never happen. They might salute you and there might be just words of respect but there won’t be any respect in the hearts. You won’t even be respected by your own wife and the children let alone the people. Be steadfast on deen and everyone will be captivated by you. The treatment with friends and enemies is not the same. The muslims are approached quite strictly be it with trade, family, children and so on and sometimes even punished here while enemies are left lose so they are caught all of a sudden with a painful punishment.

Friends and enemies are not treated equally and Allah ? is the friend of the believer

Allah ? is the friend of the believers and He ? doesn’t treat equally His ? friends and His enemies however bad the friends are. A father makes his son understand immediately, the teacher immediately reprimands his student and they don’t scold everyone and the father will not be offended by everyone. Allah ? too slaps the believers, beats them, so they regret and repent but the enemies are left lose but once they are caught, they are not given any chance to escape. So the matter with friends and enemies are not dealt in the same way. As far as muslims have azmat (glory) and love of Allah ? in their hearts, they will be in the row of friends of Allah ? and when the eeman is removed from their hearts and become munafiqeen (hypocrites) then they will become enemies. The muslims are punished in this world for their bad deeds so the burden is lightened for them on the Day of resurrection while kuffar and munafiqeen are caught severely without their punishment lightened. If you see the enemy of Allah ? with all the luxuries and he seems happy, don’t be surprised for it is the sign of letting him lose. When the Prophet ? said that this world is the prison for the believer and jannah for the kafir, this is what it means that the kafir is left lose and the believer leads a restricted life.

Let Allah ? grant us all the azmat of deen and grant us the firm belief that our success lies only in deen and our disobedience of Allah ? destroys our both the worlds. Ameen. Let us not tolerate our children being irreligious, our family being irreligious and we being are irreligious in our trade and all other affairs for we should have the belief that this will bring us and our family only loss. If we get this belief, then we will take every step carefully inshaaAllah. Let Allah ? help us all to act on what we hear and what we preach. Let Allah ? send the blessings upon our beloved Prophet ? and his beloved companions (RA). Ameen. All praise and thanks to Allah ?.

There's no written guarantee.
And things that happened yesterday belong to history.

I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past.
I have just the present moment; I must treat it as my last.

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
And be lost to me forever as part of yesterday.

I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete.

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win may nevermore be won.

I may not have another chance on bended knee to pray,
And thank God with humble heart for giving me this day.
