1) LEADERSHIP IN ISLAM: GUIDANCE FROM THE GLORIOUS QURAN

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Thus, have We made of you an Ummah justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses oer the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful. (2:143).

(They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with Allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs. (22:41).

It is He Who hath made you (His) agents, inheritors of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. (6:165).

And when Abraham was tested by his Lord with certain commands and he fulfilled them. Then He said: Lo! I appoint you an Imam for mankind. (Abraham) said: And of my offspring (will there be Imam)? He said: My covenant does not reach the wrong-doers (among them). (Quran 2:124).

Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass. (43:32).

And those who followed will say: If we could but return, we would renounce them as they have renounced us. Thus will Allah show them their deeds to be intense regret to them, and they will not escape from the Fire. (2:165-167).

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well acquainted with what you do. (5:8).

Saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): Leadership in Hadith

Behold! Everyone of you is a leader and you shall be asked about those you lead. Imam is a leader over the people and shall be asked about them; a man is a leader of the house and shall be asked about his household; a woman is a leader over her children and she shall be asked about them. (Reported Abdullah Ibn Omar in Bukhari and Muslim).

Whosoever obeyed the leader, he obeyed me and whosoever disobeyed the leader, he disobeyed me.(Muslim).

I order you of five things: to be with Al Jamaah, to listen (to the leaders), to obey (the leader's orders), Hijrah (migration) and Jihad.' (Ahmad, Tirmizi).

If one dies and there is no ring of Bayah (pledge of allegiance) in his neck, he died in jahiliyyah (that is out of Islam.) (Muslim).

Whenever three of you are traveling, you should elect one as your leader. (Abu Dawood).

'Listening to and obeying (the commands of the leader) is obligatory upon a Muslim whether he likes it or not as long as it is not in the disobedience of Allah. When a command is given in the disobedience of Allah, then there is no listening and no obedience." (Bukhari and Muslim).

Whoever delegates a position to someone whereas he sees someone else as more competent (for the position), verily he has cheated Allah and His Apostle and all the Muslims (Ibn Thymiyya, Assiyasah Ash-Shariyya, 1996).

Virtue is noble behavior, and sin is that which creates doubt and you do not like people to know about it. Source: (Nawwas bin Sam'an in Sahih Muslim).

Those who take bribes and those who give bribes are cursed by God. (Bukhari and Muslim, on the Authority of Abdullah Ibn 'Amr Ibn Al'As).

Greed and faith can never co-exist in the human heart (An-Nasa'i).

Three things are part of the good morals of a believer. When he is overcome by anger, his anger should not drive him to falsehood. When he is happy, his happiness should not take him beyond the bounds of what is right. When he has power, he should not stake a claim to something which is not his (At-Tirmidhi).

Whosoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart, for that is the minimum that is desirable from a believer. (An-Nasai).

Hayaa (i.e. modesty) is part of Iman and Imah shall be rewarded with Pradise. Foul talk is a part of neglect (towards God) and neglect (towards God) shall be rewarded with Hellfire. (Ibn Maajah).

Faith (Belief) consists of more than sixty branches (i.e. parts). And Haya (This term 'Haya' covers a large number of concepts which are to be taken together; amongst them are self respect, modesty, bashfulness, scruple, etc) is a part of faith. (Bukhari).

The dearest and nearest among you to me on the Day of Resurrection will be one who is the best of you in manners; and the most abhorrent among you to me and the farthest of you from me will be the pompous, the garrulous, and Al-Mutafaihiqun'. The Companions asked him: 'O Messenger of Allah! We know about the pompous and the garrulous, but we do not know who Al-Mutafaihiqun are'. He replied: 'The arrogant people. (Jabir in At-Tirmidhi).

2) Historic victory of Erdogan for AKP; will rule Turkey for 3rd consecutive term

"The powerful and energetic leadership of Erdogan has made AKP the symbol of hope for most of the young Turks. According to Turkey’s one of the leading paper Zaman, Erdogan’s support has been built on his success in creating a booming economy and in ending decades of chaotic coalitions, military coups and failed international financial bailouts"

"As the Erdogan first term focused on economic reform and the second term witnessed giant leap and historic steps in foreign policy, one has to keep his fingers cross to see what the third term will offer"

Justice and Development party has won the general election for the third consecutive term with a respectable margin. The party under the charismatic leadership of Receb Tayab Erdogan has captured 326 seats getting nearly 50 % of vote in the Grand National Assembly.

Except few border provinces like Edirne, Izmir, Mardin, Igdir and province of Tunceli in eastern Anatolia region where CHP won , AKP has dominated all over the Turkey

The 50 % of vote in itself is very historic and a grand win for the ruling AKP. The AK party held 331 of the 550 seats in the last parliament with less than 50 % vote.

There are many key issues which was very deterministic with this election. The issues range from constitutional reform to foreign policy and from Kurdish problem to integration into EU

The key constitutional reform is one of the prime agenda and focus of AK party since last few years and this election witnessed this reform agenda as election agenda. Many other administrative and economic reforms are at stake too but constitutional reform is the most important and key one as Sinan Ulgen, from the Istanbul-based Centre for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies points out:

"These elections are not about who wins, but about whether AK Party will win a strong majority to rewrite the constitution"

Erdogan himself has argued for a new referendum time and again which he feels is needed to make Turkey more democratic and to enhance individual freedoms.

But with 326 seats it will not be easy for AKP to call for any referendum as it is possible only with 330 seats and hence the task of rewriting the constitution will not be as simple

The powerful and energetic leadership of Erdogan has made AKP the symbol of hope for most of the young Turks. According to Turkey’s one of the leading paper Zaman, Erdogan’s support has been built on his success in creating a booming economy and in ending decades of chaotic coalitions, military coups and failed international financial bailouts.

Turkey’s main opponent parties CHHP and MHP got almost 135 and 54 seats respectively with CHP having vote share of almost near to 26 % while MHP got just over 13 % while Saadet party only got over 1 % of vote share while independents captured 35 seats

Libya, Syria and other Middle East issue is getting heated as well and will demand more firm action from the key NATO member in the Middle East, after this win the enthusiastic Erdogan government will have to address these problems at the earliest.

As the Erdogan first term focused on economic reform and the second term witnessed giant leap and historic steps in foreign policy, one has to keep his fingers cross to see what the third term will offer.

The intellectual foreign minister Davotoglu contesting for the first time won as well

The voting started early this Sunday and the counting process started in evening itself
