Wha t is a very powerful act of ʿibādah?

Muḥabbah (love) is a very powerful č ’māl-Qalbiyyah (act of the heart) which supersedes the physic al A’māl Ṣāliḥā (righteous deeds), and if directed towards that which is permissible and loved by Allāh Ta&r squo;ālā, becomes a great act of ʿibādah.

The Ṣaḍ āba (RA) were honoured with the marvellous opportunity of being in the company of Nabī-Karīm ﷺ in this world, a glance at hi s mubārak face being enough to melt away their worries and satisfy the ir hunger. Because they loved him dearly, concern and fear plagued their he arts… “Will we have the opportunity of seeing our beloved Nab ī ﷺ in the Ākhirah?” They were consoled through wa ḥī and the words of Nabī ﷺ with the assurance tha t a person will be united eternally with whom he loves!

To love somebody for the pleasure of Allāh Ta’ālā, for a higher purpose because He has given them rank and status, is the completion of our Īma̍ n. On the Day of Qiyāmah, certain people will be raised on pulpits of pearls, emeralds and rubies, their faces bright and shining. People will admire them, yet they will not be Ambiyā (AS) nor Shuḥad ā (martyrs)… They will be the ordinary Muslims who love one ano ther for Allāh’s sake, and gather for His remembrance! What a gr eat honour and favour!
